Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

My goal is to protect your privacy and confidentiality.  Under normal circumstances, you can expect that none of your personal information will be shared without written consent.  Your client file will be securely stored on the Jane practice management software and all sessions will be completed using Jane's telehealth platform which is HIPAA and PIPEDA-compliant.  

In some cases it may be required by law to disclose information.  These exceptions include: 

  • Disclosures of suspected child abuse or neglect or disclosures of elder abuse. 
  • Disclosures of  serious intent to harm oneself.  
  • Disclosures of intent to harm another person.
  • If the therapist and/or client's file has been subpoenaed to court. 

Fees and Cancellation Policy

Appointments are based on a 50-minute therapy  session followed by 10 minutes available for administrative work related to your file and billed at $200 for session.  Longer session times (eg. 90-minutes) can be scheduled and fees adjusted accordingly.  Credit card payments are accepted via the Jane practice management platform. You will be asked to provide a credit card on file that can be billed in the case of missed or late cancellation appointments. E-transfers are also accepted as form of payment. 

Currently direct billing is offered for the following extended health insurance providers: 

  • Alberta Blue Cross
  • Beneva
  • Canada Life
  • Desjardins
  • First Canadian
  • Industrial Alliance
  • Johnson Group
  • Manulife
  • Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB)
  • RWAM Insurance
  • Union Benefits

If you don't see your provider listed please reach out - I am always happy to connect with insurance plans to see if direct billing arrangements can be made! In the case your plan does not allow for direct billing,  I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your provider for reimbursement. 

In respect for your time, I will endeavor to provide greater than 24 hours notice anytime that I may need to cancel an appointment with you.  As my commitment to your well-being, I will offer you a no-charge session at the earliest convenience to compensate if I have to cancel with less than 24 hours notice.   

In turn, I ask that my clients provide me with 24 hours notice if needing to change or cancel sessions.  Sessions cancelled less than 24 hours or not attended will be charged full rate through the Jane payment portal.  Exceptions to this policy may be granted in the case of emergency as a one-time courtesy.
